Cobbled streets, sweet softies and paes ... or a sunny day in Zheravna Colors, Tastes and Views from Bulgaria - Diana Dimova-TRAXI Life is wonderful! Already in the morning, the Sun opened his eyes, smiled and said: Today will be a wonderful day! We decided to go to Zheravna. For those of you who have not gone or heard - this is a wonderful village in Stara Planina in Bulgaria. It is close to the town of Kotel .Many of the Bulgarian revolutionaries who helped to free Bulgaria from Turkish slavery lived here. The village stretches in a vast valley surrounded by mountain heights and is very beautiful. The setting is even more beautiful - all the houses and streets are as they were in the past, there are shops with folk costumes, woven shirts and bags, knitted patterned socks. There are restaurants with coffee made in the ashes of the hearth, homemade lemonade and traditional sweets. There are several churches and house-museums. The Sun was shining and there were cheerful and friendly people on the cobbled streets, there were people in groups at the tables in the cafes, children were playing near their parents ... in general, happiness was felt in the air .... The Sun was caressing, we walked along the cobbled streets and it was as if we left behind all our worries and tasks... At the end of the Main Street there was a grandmother who made a great impression on me. She was selling patterned socks and there were also things in a box ... next to them there was the best marketing sign: Sweet softies 2 BGN, Pies with cheese 2 BGN. And syrup buns. BGN 2. It immediately brought me back to my childhood - to my grandmother's sweet softies... And I thought to myself, this woman got up early, kneaded dough, fried delicious things, and today she relies on a little help with her money ... and it felt so kind and familiar and sweet to me ... We try not to eat gluten, we have drastically reduced bread, and here - grandma's fried softies ... it is clear that we could not resist them and they were gorgeous and delicious as I remember them from my childhood ... A gorgeous day - the Sun, the Shopkeepers, the Old Houses, the cobbled Streets and...a delicious childhood Memory...what more does a person need to be happy... Life is wonderful!
